Juan Gomez de Liaño says Converge has much to prove in PBA Commissioner’s Cup
Converge is considered a playoff threat in the upcoming PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup after acquiring Calvin Abueva, Jonnel Policarpio, and reportedly Mikey Williams. The team strengthened its roster by trading for experienced player Calvin Abueva to support a young core that includes Juan Gomez De Liaño, Justine Baltazar, Justin Arana, and Alec Stockton. Additionally, Converge secured promising forward Jonnel Policarpio through a three-team trade and is expecting two-time champion Mikey Williams to join.
Despite these additions, Juan Gomez De Liaño stated that Converge still views itself as underdogs, as the team has not advanced past the quarterfinals in previous seasons. However, he expressed optimism about their chances in the mid-season conference, especially with the new players and import Kylor Kelley reinforcing the squad.
The PBA Commissioner's Cup begins on March 11, with Converge facing the Macau Black Bears on opening day.
