On January 6, Houston Rockets head coach Ime Udoka provided an update on center Alperen Sengun’s injury status during a media interview.

The key big man exited early in the first quarter of the Rockets’ January 5 (Sunday) 104-110 loss to the Dallas Mavericks, suffering a right ankle sprain. The team will re-evaluate Sengun’s condition in the coming days, with no official return timetable set yet, but Udoka stated that the center’s absence is expected to last no more than two weeks.

"We’ll re-assess him this weekend. We need to wait for the swelling to go down, manage the pain and get him moving again. Overall, it’s looking like a 10-to-14-day recovery window," Udoka commented.

Through 28 games this season, Sengun has averaged 21.8 points, 9 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game for Houston, and his short-term absence is likely to impact the team’s frontcourt rotation.
