Finch Calls Out Randle’s 3 Defensive Rebounds As Unacceptable vs Blazers
On March 21, the Portland Trail Blazers edged the Minnesota Timberwolves 108-104 on the road.
Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch spoke to the media after the game. Addressing his team's poor rebounding performances lately, Finch specifically called out Julius Randle.
"…There's always a lag between the opponent's shot and our reaction. We hesitate for a second, then look up for the ball, while they (the PortlandTrailBlazers ) are already flying around the court… This is nowhere near good enough. Julius Randle only had 3 defensive rebounds — that's completely unacceptable," Finch stated.
Speaking about the lack of defensive intensity in the first half, Finch said: "There was simply no defensive intensity in the first half. We kept giving opponents five or six feet of space… Everything changed once we started closing in and contesting. They scored 33 and 35 points in the first two quarters respectively, but only 40 in the entire second half — that tells the whole story."
