Bol goes off for 40 as Tropang 5G tops Road Warriors for first win
"Bol Bol erupted for 40 points and 15 rebounds, leading TNT to a 103-97 victory over NLEX on Sunday at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo, giving the Tropang 5G their first win of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
BTNT bounced back quickly from a 109-112 loss to Rain or Shine just two nights earlier, with Bol igniting a decisive 37-25 run in the fourth quarter that sealed the triumph.
His performance was supported by Jordan Heading (15 points, four assists, four steals), Calvin Oftana (14 points, four rebounds), and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser (14 points, four boards).
Coach Chot Reyes, still mourning the passing of his mother, credited his staff’s preparation and the team’s defensive stops for the win.
“NLEX is a tough, disciplined team. It was our ability to make key stops that determined the victory,” Reyes said, referencing the Road Warriors’ back-to-back wins over Blackwater and Magnolia earlier in the conference.
NLEX was powered by import Cady Lalanne, who posted 25 points and 21 rebounds, while Robert Bolick contributed nine assists.
Despite leading 72-66 entering the final period, the RoadWarriors couldn’t match TNT’s late surge, dropping to 2–1 in the standings.
With Bol’s dominance inside and Heading’s clutch plays on the perimeter, TNT showed they could quickly recover from a setback and make a statement in the early stages of the Commissioner’s Cup."
