Western Conference Honors: Avdija and Sharpe Named December NBA Player of the Month Nominees

Portland Trail Blazers forward Deni Avdija and guard Shaedon Sharpe were jointly named nominees for the NBA Western Conference Player of the Month award for December.
During the December games, Avdija posted impressive all-around stats with averages of 24.6 points, 8.5 assists, 7.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. Sharpe contributed 22.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game, boasting a 44% three-point shooting percentage. The only notable flaw for both players was their relatively high turnover rates, with Avdija averaging 4.6 turnovers and Sharpe 3.4 per game. Despite the team's injury woes, both Avdija and Sharpe played in every available game, logged heavy minutes and helped the Trail Blazers finish December with a 6-8 record.
TIn the end, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander took home the Western Conference Player of the Month award, while New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson claimed the Eastern Conference honor. The Western Conference nominee list also included a host of star players such as Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic, with Eastern Conference nominees featuring Jaylen Brown, Cade Cunningham and Donovan Mitchell, among others.
