Arsenal will have asterisk next to their name if they win the Premier League, there is nothing beautiful about them
Alan Pardew believes that even if Arsenal win the Premier League this season, their style of play will diminish the achievement. His comments come after Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points following a 1-0 victory over Brighton, secured by a first-half goal from Bukayo Saka.
Meanwhile, title rivals Manchester City dropped points after being held to a 2-2 draw at home by Nottingham Forest. This result puts the title race firmly back in Arsenal's control, even with City having a game in hand.
While praising Arsenal's "professional" performance against Brighton, Pardew argued there is "nothing beautiful about them." He described their approach as functional and reliant on gamesmanship to secure narrow victories, noting they have now won ten league matches this season by a single goal.
Pardew concluded that, from a managerial perspective, Arsenal's effective but unspectacular style means any potential title triumph would come with an "asterisk" next to their name.
