The match, played at 19:00 local time, gave Freiburg head coach a chance to assess his squad against a competitive French opponent. From the opening exchanges, Freiburg dominated possession and pressed high, forcing Strasbourg into a number of early turnovers. The breakthrough came in the first half, with the home side converting a well-worked move to take a deserved lead. Freiburg doubled their advantage after the interval, showing clinical finishing that pleased the coaching staff.

Tactical Observations

• Possession-based build-up: Freiburg relied on patient circulation from the back, with full-backs pushing high to create overloads in wide areas.
• Counter-pressing: The home side won the ball back quickly after losing it, limiting Strasbourg's ability to transition.
• Strasbourg's response: The Ligue 1 outfit switched to a more direct approach in the second half, but lacked precision in the final third.

What It Means

For Freiburg, the win continues a positive pre-season record and will build confidence ahead of their Bundesliga opener. For Strasbourg, the friendly offered valuable minutes for players returning from injury and a chance to test rotations.
