Trafford claimed an eye‑catching 2‑1 win over higher‑tier Chorley FC in a competitive pre‑season friendly at Shawe View. The Northern Premier League Premier Division hosts more than held their own against the National League North visitors.

Trafford take an early grip

The home side started with energy and purpose. They opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Marcus Dackers rose highest to meet a corner and directed a powerful header into the net. Chorley, who operate two divisions above Trafford, struggled to find their rhythm and were caught on the counter again just before the break. James Hooper picked up a loose ball in midfield, drove forward and unleashed a low drive that beat the Chorley goalkeeper at his near post.

Chorley rally but fall short

Chorley improved after the interval. Manager Andy Preece introduced several first‑team regulars, and the visitors began to dominate possession. They pulled a goal back in the 63rd minute when Luke Chapman converted a cut‑back from the right flank.
