Full-time result: Khonkaen FC 1-1 Pitchayabundit College

Khonkaen FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Pitchayabundit College in Thai League 3 on 18 October 2026. The hosts dominated possession for long spells but had to come from behind after conceding against the run of play, and they will feel they dropped two valuable points in their push up the table.

Match overview

Khonkaen FC started brightly, moving the ball quickly through midfield and looking to create chances down the flanks. Pitchayabundit College defended in a deep block and relied on counter-attacks, and that approach paid off when they took the lead midway through the first half. The visitors then defended with discipline, limiting Khonkaen’s clear-cut opportunities until the home side found an equaliser after the break.

The final stages were tense. Khonkaen pushed extra players forward in search of a winner, while Pitchayabundit College threatened on the break. Neither side could find the decisive goal, and both had to settle for a point.

Key moments

• 23rd minute: Nattapong Chaiprom gave Pitchayabundit College the lead with a composed finish after a quick counter-attack.
• 45th minute: Khonkaen FC appealed for a penalty after a challenge in the box, but the referee waved play on.
• 67th minute: Sittichai Wongsa equalised for Khonkaen FC with a curling effort from the edge of the area.
• 84th minute: Pitchayabundit College goalkeeper made a crucial save to deny Khonkaen a late winner.

Tactical story

Khonkaen FC played with patience in possession, using their midfield triangle to circulate the ball and draw the visitors out. Their best chances came when they switched play quickly, but too often the final pass was delayed, allowing Pitchayabundit College to recover. The home side’s full-backs pushed high, which left them exposed to counter-attacks and underlined why the opening goal came from a fast break.

Pitchayabundit College’s compact 4-4-2 shape was effective without the ball. They conceded territory but protected the central areas and forced Khonkaen into wide deliveries. After equalising, Khonkaen increased the tempo and created late pressure, but the visitors’ goalkeeper and centre-backs held firm.

Standout players

Sittichai Wongsa was Khonkaen’s most influential player, scoring the equaliser and linking play between midfield and attack. The Pitchayabundit College goalkeeper deserved credit for a series of saves, including the late stop that preserved the draw. Nattapong Chaiprom’s intelligent running and composed finish made him the visitors’ standout performer.

Season impact

The draw leaves Khonkaen FC frustrated in the Thai League 3 standings, especially given their control of the ball. Pitchayabundit College will view the point as a positive away result and a sign of their defensive resilience. The match report highlights a familiar theme for Khonkaen: plenty of possession, but not enough cutting edge in the final third.
