Team Info

Újpest FC is one of the most storied and successful football clubs in Hungary, competing in the top-flight Nemzeti Bajnokság I, also known as the OTP Bank Liga. Based in the Újpest district of Budapest, the club plays at the Szusza Ferenc Stadion. Founded in 1885, the club's traditional colors are purple and white, earning them the nickname "Lilák" (the Purples). Újpest boasts a glorious history, with a peak era in the 1960s and 70s under manager Lajos Baróti, winning numerous league titles and domestic cups with legendary players like Ferenc Bene and János Göröcs. They were also a formidable force in European competitions during that period. The modern era has seen the club remain a top-division staple, though often finishing behind rivals Ferencváros, while still challenging for European spots and cup honors. The club is known for its large, passionate, and sometimes controversial fanbase, creating an electric atmosphere at home. Újpest FC remains a giant of Hungarian football with a proud and turbulent history.
