Team Info
Oldham Athletic Association Football Club, known as the Latics, is a professional football team based in Oldham, Greater Manchester. They currently compete in English Football League Two, the fourth tier of the English football pyramid. The club plays its home matches at Boundary Park, a stadium with a rich history and a distinctive if now somewhat weathered character. Founded in 1895, the club has spent the majority of its existence in the Football League's lower divisions. The absolute peak of the club's history came in the early 1990s under manager Joe Royle. In a fairy-tale era, the Latics reached the final of the Football League Cup in 1990, won the Second Division title in 1991 to gain promotion to the top flight, and famously defeated Manchester United in the league. They also reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1994. This period established Oldham as a plucky, competitive side. Since relegation from the Premier League in 1994, the club has suffered a long decline, culminating in their heartbreaking relegation from the Football League in 2022, ending a 115-year stay. Their immediate return via the National League play-offs in 2023 was a massive relief for supporters. Now back in League Two, the club, with its fiercely loyal fan base, is focused on rebuilding and stabilizing its Football League status.
