Team Info

Afturelding is a football club from the town of Mosfellsbær, just outside Reykjavík, competing in Iceland's 1. deild karla, the second tier of the nation's football pyramid. The team plays its home matches at the Varmárvöllur, a ground that comes alive with local support. Founded in 1938, the club has a long-standing tradition in Icelandic football, with its red and white colors a familiar sight. Afturelding has historically oscillated between the second and third divisions, serving as a prominent club in the Mosfellsbær region. Their most successful period saw them become a stable presence in the 1. deild, often challenging for promotion to the top-flight Úrvalsdeild. The club is known for its strong community ties and a focus on developing youth players, many of whom have gone on to play at higher levels. The modern era sees Afturelding consistently aiming to bridge the gap to the elite, relying on a mix of experienced campaigners and promising local talent. On a good day, they can compete with anyone in the division, driven by the support of their passionate fanbase.
