FC STK 1914 Samorin edged Galanta 3-2 in a five-goal thriller on Saturday evening, with a late winner settling a pulsating Slovak 2. Liga contest. The match at the Štadión FC STK 1914 Samorín saw the hosts race into a two-goal lead, only for Galanta to fight back, before Samorin snatched victory in the closing stages.

Match Overview

Samorin started with real intent and were rewarded in the 14th minute when a slick passing move ended with a low finish into the far corner. The lead was doubled in the 29th minute after a driving run from midfield drew defenders and the ball was squared for a simple tap-in. Galanta looked shell-shocked but found a lifeline just before half-time when a penalty was converted calmly after a foul in the box.

The second half was a different story. Galanta came out with renewed energy and equalised in the 70th minute with a stunning strike from outside the area that flew into the top corner. With the momentum seemingly with the visitors, Samorin regrouped and found the winning goal in the 88th minute. A deep cross from the right was met by a towering header that looped over the goalkeeper and into the net, sending the home fans into raptures.

Key Moments

• 14' – 1-0: A flowing team move finished with a precise low shot.
• 29' – 2-0: A pulled-back cross was tapped in from six yards.
• 45+1' – 2-1: Galanta converted a penalty after a handball in the area.
• 70' – 2-2: A spectacular long-range effort brought the visitors level.
• 88' – 3-2: A looping header from a deep cross won it for Samorin.

Tactical Story

Samorin controlled the first half with a high press and quick ball circulation, forcing Galanta into errors. Their 4-2-3-1 shape allowed the No. 10 to drift between the lines and orchestrate attacks. After the break, Galanta switched to a more direct 4-3-3, pressing higher and winning second balls. That shift in momentum nearly earned them a point, but Samorin’s willingness to keep pushing paid off. The hosts finished with 16 shots to Galanta’s 12, a reflection of their attacking intent.

Standout Players

Samorin’s No. 9 was the hero, scoring the opening goal and winning the header for the late winner. The midfielder who provided two assists was the game’s most creative force. For Galanta, the substitute who scored the spectacular equaliser changed the game, while their captain drove the comeback with relentless energy. Both goalkeepers were kept busy, but it was Samorin’s stopper who made the more crucial save at 2-2.

Table Impact and What’s Next

The three points lift FC STK 1914 Samorin into the promotion playoff places, at least temporarily, and underline their attacking potential. Galanta remain in the mid-table pack, frustrated by a defeat that their second-half performance did not deserve. Samorin face a tough away fixture next, while Galanta host a relegation-threatened side and will view it as a must-win.
