Spezia 3-0 FC Vado: Eagles Cruise Into Coppa Italia Serie C Next Round

Spezia produced a professional and dominant display to beat FC Vado 3-0 at the Stadio Alberto Picco on 3 September 2026, easing their way into the next round of the Coppa Italia Serie C PRO Cup. The result underlined the gulf in class between the former Serie A side and their lower-league visitors, with the home team controlling the tie from the first whistle to the last.

Match Overview

Playing on home soil, Spezia took charge early and never looked back. The Eagles dictated possession, pressed high up the pitch, and repeatedly stretched the Vado defence with sharp movements in the final third. Vado, brave in patches, struggled to sustain any meaningful attacking threat against a well-organised Spezia back line, and ultimately had no answer to the hosts' clinical edge.

Key Moments

• Opening goal: Spezia broke the deadlock midway through the first half when a slick passing move carved open the Vado defence, allowing the forward to slot the ball calmly past the goalkeeper.
• Second goal before the break: A well-delivered corner was met with a firm header at the near post, doubling the lead and giving Spezia full control before half-time.
• Third goal after the restart: The hosts added a third early in the second half with a quick counter-attack, clinically finished to put the result beyond doubt.

Tactical Story

Spezia’s approach was built on quick circulation and width, with the full-backs pushing high to pin Vado into their own half. The midfield trio dominated the centre of the park, denying Vado any rhythm in possession. When Vado did try to build out from the back, Spezia’s aggressive pressing forced mistakes and created several turnovers in dangerous areas. The clean sheet was a tribute to the discipline shown by the entire Spezia unit, not just the defenders.

Standout Performance

Perhaps the most impressive element of Spezia’s display was the balance between patience and urgency. With a young squad eager to impress, several fringe players used the opportunity to stake a claim for regular first-team minutes. The second-half substitution of a fresh winger added even more pace, and it was his cross that led to the third goal.

Impact and What’s Next

For Spezia, this victory is an important stepping stone as they aim to build momentum in cup competitions and close the gap on the league leaders. FC Vado will take pride in competing at a professional venue, but the scoreline reflects the difference in experience and resources. Spezia now advance with confidence, having kept a clean sheet and scored three unanswered goals on home turf.
