Spartak-2 Moscow and Chertanovo Moscow shared the points in a 1-1 draw at the Spartak Academy training ground, in a meeting that showcased the young talent at the heart of Russian D3B football. The match, between two of Moscow’s most progressive development clubs, was competitive, technical and fiercely contested throughout.

Chertanovo take charge

Chertanovo, known for their patient build-up play and focus on youth development, controlled possession in the opening exchanges. Their movement off the ball caused problems for the Spartak-2 back line, and they were rewarded midway through the second half when a clever cut-back found a striker in the box who slotted the ball calmly into the bottom corner.

That goal gave Chertanovo a deserved lead and forced Spartak-2 to push forward with more urgency. The young home side began to create chances as the half wore on, with several dangerous crosses flying across the face of goal without being turned in.

The equaliser opened the game up, with both sides chasing a winner. Chertanovo hit the crossbar with a curling free kick, while Spartak-2 missed a golden opportunity in the dying minutes when a loose ball fell kindly in the box but the shot was dragged just wide of the post.

A fair result in a tight Moscow derby

In the end, a draw was probably the fairest outcome. Both teams had their moments, and both showed signs of the quality that points towards bright futures for many of these players. For Spartak-2, the result extends their unbeaten run at home, while Chertanovo will be satisfied with a solid away point as they continue to develop their identity in Russian D3B.
