Molde produced a ruthless and polished performance to defeat SK Trygg Lade 5-0 in the Norwegian SAS Braathens Cup on September 17, 2026. The visitors were a class apart, scoring early and never easing off, as they booked their place in the next round with a comprehensive victory.

From the first whistle, Molde imposed their style on the game. They pressed high, moved the ball quickly, and attacked with numbers. SK Trygg Lade tried to stay organized, but the speed and precision of Molde’s play proved overwhelming.

Match Overview

Molde took the lead inside the opening ten minutes, setting the tone for the night. A quick combination in midfield released an attacker into the box, and the finish was clinical. The second goal arrived before the half-hour mark, and the third followed before half-time, effectively ending the contest.

The second half was more of the same. Molde controlled possession, created chances at will, and added two more goals to complete the scoring. SK Trygg Lade kept fighting, but they struggled to keep the ball for long enough to relieve the pressure. Molde’s defensive line was rarely troubled, and the clean sheet capped a near-perfect cup performance.

Key Moments

• Early opener: Molde sliced through the defense with a slick passing move and took the lead inside ten minutes.
• Second goal: A high press forced a turnover, and Molde doubled the advantage with a first-time finish.
• Third before half-time: A crossed ball was converted at the back post, giving Molde a commanding interval lead.
• Fourth goal after the break: A long-range effort found the bottom corner, highlighting Molde’s confidence.

Tactical Story

Molde’s game plan was executed almost flawlessly. They pressed in coordinated waves, won the ball back quickly, and attacked with width and depth. Their midfielders rotated constantly, making it difficult for SK Trygg Lade to track runners. When Molde lost possession, they counter-pressed immediately, often winning the ball back within seconds.

SK Trygg Lade attempted to defend deep and hit on the break, but they were pinned back for most of the match. Their few forward moves lacked support, and Molde’s defenders dealt with crosses comfortably. The gulf in quality was evident in both technical execution and physical intensity.

Standout Performers

Molde’s center-forward was the standout, scoring a hat-trick and linking play effectively. The attacking midfielders also impressed, creating chances and contributing goals. In defense, the center-backs were composed and alert, ensuring the clean sheet was never seriously threatened. For SK Trygg Lade, their goalkeeper made several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat, and their captain never stopped encouraging his teammates.

What It Means

Molde advance with a statement win that will make other teams take notice. A 5-0 away victory in the Norwegian SAS Braathens Cup underlines their attacking power and squad depth. For SK Trygg Lade, the result is a tough lesson, but cup ties against top-level opposition can be valuable for development. Molde, meanwhile, march on with confidence and momentum.
