Match Info
Sheffield Wednesday were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Watford at Hillsborough on Tuesday night, a result that left both teams in mid-table positions in the Championship. Wednesday took the lead in the first half through a powerful strike from distance, sending the home crowd into raptures. Watford, however, showed their quality to fight back and equalized early in the second half with a well-worked team move finished calmly. Both teams pushed for a winner in the latter stages, with the Watford goalkeeper making a spectacular save to deny Wednesday a late header, while at the other end, Wednesday's defense held firm against Watford's counter-attacks. The draw was a fair result on the balance of play, with both sides having periods of dominance. The point did little to alter either team's standing significantly, with both seemingly destined for a safe but unspectacular finish to the season. Both managers acknowledged the competitive nature of the match and the quality of the opposition in their post-match interviews.
