FK Rostov-2 0-1 FC Sevastopol — FC Sevastopol claimed a narrow 1-0 victory away to FK Rostov-2 in the Russian Third Division B on Saturday, grinding out three points with a disciplined defensive display and a single moment of quality in the second half.

Match Overview

The match was a typically tight third-tier affair, decided by fine margins. Rostov-2 enjoyed more of the ball, particularly in the first half, but struggled to break down a well-drilled Sevastopol defence that dropped deep and crowded the central areas. Sevastopol managed the game expertly after taking the lead, slowing the tempo and limiting their hosts to speculative efforts from distance.

Key Moments

• 21' — Rostov-2's first real chance came from a free-kick on the edge of the box, but the effort cleared the bar.
• 58' — FC Sevastopol scored the only goal of the game when Andrei Kravchenko found space at the far post and converted a deep cross.
• 74' — Rostov-2 pushed numbers forward and forced a series of corners, but Sevastopol's goalkeeper claimed everything confidently.
• 90+3' — A late Rostov-2 header drifted wide as the hosts ran out of time.

Tactical Story

Rostov-2 set up with a youthful, energetic midfield and looked to move the ball quickly through the thirds. However, they lacked a cutting edge in the final third, often overplaying in wide areas instead of testing the goalkeeper. Sevastopol, by contrast, were content to concede possession and defend their box, using their experience to read the danger and clear their lines.

The winning goal came from a rare attacking foray: a patient build-up drew Rostov-2's midfield out of position, and the cross to the back post was perfectly measured. After that, Sevastopol's game management was exemplary, with their captain organising the back line and wasting time intelligently.

Standout Players

Andrei Kravchenko was the match-winner and the most composed player on the pitch, taking his goal with real assurance. Sevastopol's goalkeeper was equally important, commanding his area and making two smart saves in the closing stages. For Rostov-2, the central midfielder showed promise with his distribution, but the forward line lacked the sharpness needed to convert possession into goals.

D3B Context

The win gives FC Sevastopol a morale-boosting away result and valuable points in a competitive division where away form often decides the final standings. Rostov-2 will be disappointed to lose at home but can take encouragement from their control of large periods, even if the end product was missing.
