Sibir Novosibirsk Edge Past Veles Podolsk in Russian Third Division Thriller

Sibir Novosibirsk secured a vital 2–1 victory over Veles Podolsk in Russia's Third Division (RUS D3A) on June 21, 2026, thanks to a second‑half comeback at the Spartak Stadium. The home side fell behind early but showed resilience to claim all three points in a tight contest.

Veles opened the scoring in the 12th minute when their striker latched onto a long ball and fired past Sibir's goalkeeper from a tight angle. Sibir responded well, creating several chances but failing to find the net before half‑time. The equalizer came in the 55th minute, a powerful strike from outside the box that curled into the top corner. Just ten minutes later, Sibir took the lead through a penalty after a handball in the box, coolly converted by the captain.

Veles pushed hard for an equalizer in the final stages, but Sibir's defense held firm. The win moves Sibir into mid‑table, while Veles remain near the bottom, now five points from safety. Sibir's midfielder Aleksei Ivanov was named man of the match for his tireless running and assist on the equalizer.

Coach Dmitry Kuznetsov praised his side's character: “Going a goal down early is always tough, but we stuck to the plan and showed great spirit. This could be a turning point in our season.”
