Ruch Chorzow secured a composed 2-0 victory over Pogon Grodzisk Mazowiecki in Poland Liga 2 at Stadion Ruchu on 25 October 2026, using a first-half breakthrough and a controlled second-half display to claim all three points.

Match overview

Ruch Chorzow started brightly in front of their home support, moving the ball quickly through midfield and forcing Pogon Grodzisk Mazowiecki into a low defensive block. The opener arrived in the 28th minute when Daniel Szczepan rose well to meet a left-sided cross and headed into the far corner. Pogon responded with a brief spell of pressure before half-time, but Ruch’s goalkeeper dealt comfortably with the few shots that reached him.

The second goal arrived in the 71st minute. Substitute Kacper Michalski latched onto a loose ball at the edge of the area and drove a low effort through a crowded penalty box to double the lead. Pogon pushed men forward late on, but Ruch managed the game intelligently and kept the visitors at arm’s length.

Key moments

• 28' — Ruch 1-0: Szczepan heads in a precise cross from the left.
• 44' — Pogon chance: A rare counter ends with a shot from distance that Ruch’s keeper holds.
• 71' — Ruch 2-0: Michalski finishes from the edge of the box after a half-cleared corner.
• 86' — Pogon pressure: The visitors win a late corner, but Ruch defend resolutely.

Tactical story

Ruch’s midfield pressed aggressively and forced Pogon into hurried passes, while the hosts’ wide players stretched the defence and created space for late runs into the box. Pogon’s game plan centred on compact defending and quick transitions, but they struggled to sustain possession in the attacking third. Ruch’s control of the midfield tempo allowed them to dictate the rhythm of the match and protect their lead comfortably in the final 20 minutes.

Standout performers

Szczepan’s movement and aerial strength made him a constant problem for Pogon’s centre-backs, and his opening goal set the tone. Michalski made an immediate impact from the bench, adding energy and a decisive finish. Ruch’s goalkeeper also deserve credit for a composed display, while Pogon’s best moments came through their hard-working midfield, though they lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

Season impact

The win keeps Ruch Chorzow firmly in the promotion conversation in Poland Liga 2, where consistency at home is likely to prove decisive. Pogon Grodzisk Mazowiecki will rue their inability to convert their brief periods of pressure into clear chances, and they will need to improve their away form if they are to climb the table. For Ruch, the performance offered a blueprint: patient build-up, strong set-piece delivery and a disciplined defensive shape.
