CS Academica Recea beat Sighetu Marmatiei 1-0 in Romanian Liga III on 2 October 2026, with a second-half header deciding a closely contested 20:00 match. The narrow victory gave Recea a valuable home clean sheet and three points in the league standings.

Match Overview

Academica Recea controlled much of the first half without creating a clear-cut chance. Sighetu Marmatiei defended in a deep block, looking to frustrate the hosts and hit on the counter. The visitors nearly took the lead against the run of play when a quick break ended with a shot that clipped the outside of the post. Recea continued to probe and finally broke through in the 56th minute. A short corner was worked to the edge of the box, and the subsequent cross was met by a powerful header into the bottom corner. Sighetu responded with more urgency, but Recea’s defence stayed compact and limited them to long-range efforts.

Key Moments

• 31' – Sighetu hit the post: A fast counterattack almost gave the visitors a surprise lead.
• 56' – Recea score the winner: A well-delivered cross from the right was headed home from six yards.
• 74' – Recea goalkeeper saves: A dipping free-kick was pushed around the post.

Tactical Story

Recea’s approach was patient and possession-heavy, with the full-backs pushing high to create overloads in wide areas. Sighetu Marmatiei sat deep and tried to spring forward through their two strikers, a tactic that produced the best chance of the first half. Once Recea scored, they dropped their midfield slightly deeper to protect the lead, inviting Sighetu to cross. That decision worked well, as the away side struggled to find quality deliveries. Recea’s set-piece preparation ultimately made the difference, with the winning goal coming from a rehearsed routine.

Standout Players

The Recea centre-back who scored the only goal was also excellent defensively, winning several aerial duels. The goalkeeper earned the clean sheet with a sharp save at 1-0, while the right winger provided the assist and constant width. For Sighetu Marmatiei, the goalkeeper made three good saves to keep the score down, and the striker who hit the post was their most dangerous player. The visiting captain organized the defensive line well for long spells but could not prevent the decisive header.

Season Impact

This 1-0 win strengthens CS Academica Recea’s position in the Romanian Liga III standings and adds another clean sheet to their defensive record. For Sighetu Marmatiei, the narrow defeat is a frustrating outcome after a disciplined away performance, but the team remains competitive in the battle for points. Recea’s ability to win tight matches could prove crucial over the course of the season, while Sighetu will look to turn defensive solidity into goals in their next outings.
