Legia Warszawa’s youth side emphatically reasserted their title credentials in the Młoda Ekstraklasa with a commanding 4-1 victory over Miedź Legnica at home on 15 August 2026. The young Wojskowi turned on the style in front of their own supporters, producing a performance that mixed slick passing, aggressive pressing, and ruthless finishing to bounce back in style.

First-half dominance sets the tone

From the opening whistle, Legia’s academy outfit dictated the tempo. Their high defensive line and quick transitions stretched Miedź Legnica early, and it came as little surprise when the hosts broke the deadlock midway through the first half. A well-worked move down the right flank ended with a low cross converted from close range, giving the home side the lead they deserved.

Miedź tried to respond through their own pressing game, but Legia’s midfield control kept them pinned back. The visitors’ best chance of the half came from a set piece, only for the Legia goalkeeper to produce a smart save to preserve the advantage. Just before the interval, Legia doubled their lead with a calm finish after a defensive lapse from the Miedź back line, sending the teams into the break with the hosts firmly in command.

Miedź brace themselves but Legia finish strong

Whatever Miedź Legnica’s coaching staff said at halftime seemed to work, as the visitors emerged with renewed energy. They pulled a goal back shortly after the restart, capitalising on a loose ball in the box to make it 2-1 and give themselves a lifeline. The match suddenly opened up, with both sides creating chances in an entertaining spell.

However, Legia Warszawa (Youth) showed their maturity. Instead of panicking, they re-established control, and their reward came with a third goal that effectively sealed the contest. A driving run from midfield created space for a precise strike into the bottom corner, leaving the Miedź goalkeeper with no chance. The hosts then added gloss to the scoreline with a fourth goal in the closing stages, converting a counter-attack with composure.

Result and implications

The final whistle confirmed a 4-1 scoreline that reflected Legia’s overall authority. For Młoda Ekstraklasa standings watchers, the victory reinforced Legia Warszawa’s status as one of the form teams in the competition, while Miedź Legnica will take positives from their spirited second-half display but will need to tighten up defensively.
