Resovia Rzeszow 0-0 Sokol Kleczew: Defences dominate in Poland Liga 2 stalemate

Resovia Rzeszow and Sokol Kleczew shared the points after a cagey 0-0 draw in Poland Liga 2 on 18 October 2026. Clear chances were scarce, but the match was not without tension, with both goalkeepers called into action and a late push from the hosts falling short.

Match overview

Resovia controlled more of the ball in the first half, while Sokol Kleczew sat compact and looked to counter. The visitors nearly took the lead against the run of play, but Resovia's goalkeeper produced a strong save. After the interval, the home side increased the tempo and pinned Sokol back for long spells, though the final pass repeatedly eluded them.

Key moments

• 19th minute: Resovia's first real opening ended with a low drive from the edge of the box that the Sokol goalkeeper pushed wide.
• 34th minute: Sokol broke quickly and forced a one-on-one save from Resovia's goalkeeper.
• 63rd minute: Resovia had the ball in the net from a header, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
• 87th minute: A late free-kick skidded just past the post as the hosts pressed for a winner.

Tactical story

Resovia built patiently through midfield but struggled to break down a well-drilled Sokol back line. The visitors defended narrow, forcing Resovia wide and then dealing with crosses. Sokol's counter-attacking plan almost paid off, but their final decision-making in the last third let them down. The midfield battle was physical and fragmented, with neither side able to sustain long spells of fluency.

Standout players

Both goalkeepers deserved credit for the clean sheets. Resovia's goalkeeper made the game's outstanding save in the first half, while Sokol's shot-stopper handled crosses and set-pieces confidently. Resovia's central midfielder worked tirelessly to keep the ball moving, and Sokol's captain organized the defensive line well.

Season impact

A point apiece keeps both teams ticking over in the early-season table, but the draw highlights the need for greater cutting edge. Resovia will be frustrated not to convert territorial control into goals, while Sokol Kleczew can take encouragement from a disciplined away clean sheet. In a division where fine margins matter, both sides may view this as a missed opportunity.
