Player Info
Pedro Gallese, the Peruvian national team's starting goalkeeper, is a modern shot-stopper renowned for his incredible reflexes, leadership, and clutch performances in major tournaments. Currently with Deportivo Cali in Colombia, "El Pulpo" (The Octopus) has become a national hero in Peru. His club career has taken him from Peru to Mexico (Club Veracruz, Orlando City SC in MLS) and now Colombia. However, his legacy is defined by his heroics for Peru, particularly in the penalty shootout victory over Paraguay in the 2019 Copa América third-place playoff and throughout their run to the 2021 Copa América final. Gallese has won individual awards as Peru's best goalkeeper and is the undisputed number one. His athletic saves, command of the area, and penalty-saving prowess make him one of CONMEBOL's most respected keepers and a cornerstone of Peru's recent golden generation.
