Sotra produced a ruthless away performance as they hammered Frøya 6-0 in the Norwegian SAS Braathens Cup under the lights. The visitors were clinical and dominant from start to finish, leaving the home side with no chance of mounting a comeback and sending a clear signal that they take this competition severely.

The 6-0 margin could easily have been larger. Sotra’s attacking unit fired on all cylinders, while Frøya struggled to cope with the movement, pace, and intensity of their opponents. For the home fans, it was a sobering night, but for Sotra, it was the perfect tune-up ahead of a busy stretch in the season.

One-way traffic in the first half

Sotra took the lead in the 10th minute when winger Andreas Grøndal was given too much space on the right, allowing him to advance into the box and drill a low shot into the far corner. The visitors doubled their advantage just before the half-hour mark as striker Eirik Dale rose highest to power home a header from a corner.

A third followed in the closing moments of the half. A swift passing move split the Frøya defence, and midfielder Even Nilsen converted with a composed strike from the edge of the area. At 3-0, the tie was effectively over, but Sotra showed no signs of easing off.

Sotra’s second-half stranglehold

Frøya attempted to push forward after the break, but Sotra controlled the tempo and picked them apart on the counter-attack. The fourth goal arrived in the 52nd minute when Dale headed his second of the night after yet another excellent delivery from a free-kick.

Substitute Christer Løken added a fifth with a clinical finish in the 68th minute, and the rout was completed in the 76th minute when Grøndal scored his second, slotting home after being put through on goal by a perfectly weighted through-ball. The final ten minutes were a formality as Sotra cruised to the finish.

A statement win
