A Slovak Cup tie at Nitra Chrenová ended in a one-sided spectacle on 3 September 2026, as top-flight giants Slovan Bratislava stormed to an 8-0 victory over their lower-league hosts. The scoreline reflected the chasm in quality between the two sides, with Slovan ruthless from the first minute to the last.

Slovan Bratislava make early statement

There was no sign of a cup upset. Slovan Bratislava, among the most decorated clubs in Slovak football, controlled possession from the opening whistle and carved open the home defence at will. Nitra Chrenová worked hard without the ball, but the movement and pace of the visiting attack proved impossible to contain.

Slovan’s first goal arrived inside the opening exchanges and set the tone for a long afternoon for the hosts. By the interval, the away side had already built a significant lead, turning the second half into an exercise in game management combined with continued attacking ambition.

A constant stream of goals

The floodgates stayed open after the break. Slovan Bratislava rotated their attacking options and continued to find space between the lines, adding further goals with regularity. Nitra Chrenová briefly threatened to offer something in response, but every forward push left them vulnerable to Slovan’s quick transitions.

• Slovan were clinical from set pieces and open play alike.
• The visitors pressed relentlessly even after the match was decided.
• Nitra Chrenová showed spirit but lacked the quality to sustain any pressure.

Cup lesson for the underdogs

For Nitra Chrenová, the scoreline will be difficult to take, but the experience of facing a club of Slovan’s stature is valuable in itself. Slovak Cup ties are often about dreaming of a giant-killing, and while that dream did not last long, the lower-league side will take lessons from sharing a pitch with such an accomplished opponent.

For Slovan Bratislava, this was a professional job in a competition they take seriously. Advancing with confidence and a heavily positive goal difference keeps them on course as they chase further cup success.
