Michalovce Cruise Past MFK Spartak Medzev in Slovak Cup

Michalovce moved smoothly into the next round of the Slovak Cup with a 2-0 away victory over MFK Spartak Medzev on 8 September 2026. The result underlined the visitors’ superior quality, as they controlled the tempo of the match from start to finish and rarely looked troubled by their lower-league hosts.

Controlled Away Display Seals the Tie

Playing at Medzev, Michalovce needed little time to impose themselves. Their passing game stretched the home defence and created several early openings, and it came as no surprise when they took the lead with a well-worked attacking move. The goal settled any early nerves and forced Spartak Medzev to move further forward in search of an equaliser.

Michalovce handled the response with maturity. Their back line stayed compact, while the midfield continued to find space between the lines. After the interval, the visitors doubled their advantage in style, effectively wrapping up the contest. Spartak Medzev kept working hard and enjoyed a couple of spirited spells, but the gap in class was visible when Michalovce moved the ball quickly through the final third.

Spartak Medzev Out but Head Held High

For MFK Spartak Medzev, the cup exit will be disappointing, yet this remains a valuable experience against a higher-level side. Facing a team with Michalovce’s resources tests every aspect of a lower-league squad, and Medzev's players will take useful lessons from the evening.

Michalovce, on the other hand, did exactly what was required in front of goal and kept a clean sheet on the road. The 2-0 result provides momentum and confidence for their continued Slovak Cup run, while also serving as a reminder of the depth in their squad. For fans of Slovak football, this was an efficient away performance and one that keeps Michalovce firmly on track in the national cup competition.
