Match Report: SC Farense 1–1 Paços de Ferreira | Liga Portugal 2
SC Farense and Paços de Ferreira shared the spoils in a 1‑1 draw at the Estádio de São Luís, a result that did little to change the complexion of the Liga Portugal 2 table. Both sides had spells of dominance but ultimately had to settle for a point each.
First Half: Farense Dominate but Wasteful
Farense started on the front foot, pressing high and creating several early chances. Their pressure paid off in the 22nd minute when Tiago Lopes latched onto a through ball and chipped the advancing goalkeeper. However, Farense failed to build on the lead, and Paços de Ferreira grew into the game as the half progressed.
Second Half: Paços Equalise
Paços de Ferreira came out with a more aggressive approach after the break. They levelled in the 55th minute when a corner was only partially cleared and André Silva smashed a half‑volley into the roof of the net. Both sides pushed for a winner but lacked the final product. Farense’s Jorge Pereira had a goal disallowed for offside, while Paços hit the post late on.
Manager Reactions
Farense coach José Carvalho lamented his team’s inability to convert chances: “We dominated the first half and should have been two or three up. We lost focus and paid the price.” Paços boss Rui Borges praised his team’s resilience: “After a slow start, we reacted well and were the better side in the second half. A draw is fair.”
Table Implications
The draw leaves Farense in 8th position, five points adrift of the top four. Paços de Ferreira remain 12th, still looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone. A win for either side would have been huge, but the point keeps both in the mix for their respective objectives.
