Bohemians delivered a dominant away performance to thrash Sligo Rovers 3-1 at the Showgrounds on 30 May 2026, moving them into third place in the Ireland Premier Division. The Gypsies raced into a two-goal lead inside the first half hour and never looked back, despite a spirited Sligo fightback after the interval.
First-Half Blitz
Bohemians began the game on the front foot and took the lead in the 11th minute. A swift counter-attack ended with winger James Clarke driving into the box and firing low past Sligo goalkeeper Ed McGinty. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 26th minute when striker Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe rose highest to head home a corner from the right.
Sligo pulled one back against the run of play just before half-time. A long ball forward was flicked on by striker Max Mata, and midfielder Niall Morahan ran through to slot past Bohs keeper James Talbot. But any hopes of a Sligo comeback were extinguished early in the second half.
Second Half Decider
Bohemians restored their two-goal cushion in the 52nd minute. A flowing move involving Clarke and midfielder Dawson Devoy resulted in a cross that found Ogedi-Uzokwe unmarked at the back post, and he headed home his second of the night. Sligo pushed forward in the final half-hour but could not find a way past a well-organised Bohs defence.
Star Man
Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe was the clear standout, netting a brace with two excellent headers. His physical presence and intelligent movement caused constant problems for the Sligo backline. James Clarke also impressed with a goal and an assist.
League Implications
Bohemians climbed to third in the Premier Division table, leapfrogging Derry City and now just three points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers. Sligo Rovers remained in eighth place, five points above the relegation play-off zone, and will need to tighten up defensively after conceding three goals at home.
