Oxford United brushed aside League One rivals Crawley Town with an emphatic 3‑1 victory at the Kassam Stadium, continuing their impressive pre‑season form under manager Des Buckingham. The U’s took control early through a Mark Harris header in the 11th minute, before Ruben Rodrigues doubled the lead with a composed finish just before half‑time.

Crawley pulled one back early in the second half through a well‑struck effort from midfielder Liam Kelly, but Oxford restored their two‑goal cushion in the 72nd minute when substitute Tyler Goodrham slotted home after a swift counter‑attack. The home side dominated possession and created numerous chances, with goalkeeper Simon Eastwood barely tested throughout the game.

“I thought we were excellent in every department,” said Buckingham. “The pressing, the passing, and the movement off the ball were all at a high level. This is exactly the kind of performance we want to see from the squad.” Crawley boss Scott Lindsey admitted his side were second best: “Oxford were sharper and more organised. We have work to do before the season starts, but these friendlies are the perfect platform to learn.”

The victory gives Oxford United a major confidence boost, while Crawley will look to regroup ahead of their final pre‑season fixtures. The match was watched by a crowd of around 3,500, many of whom were delighted with the attacking display from the home side.
