Morecambe and AFC Fylde shared the spoils in a closely contested 1‑1 draw at the Mazuma Stadium, in a game that offered both sets of fans plenty of action. The Shrimps took the lead just after the hour mark when forward Michael Mellon turned in a low cross from Jacob Blyth.

But Fylde, who play in the National League North, showed remarkable resolve and equalised with ten minutes remaining through a long‑range strike from Adam Long. The visitors had earlier hit the crossbar and forced a fine save from Morecambe goalkeeper Archie Mair.

Morecambe manager Derek Adams used the outing to experiment with his line‑up, making nine changes across the two halves. “We saw a good mix of experience and young players,” Adams commented. “AFC Fylde caused us problems and their goal was well taken – that’s good preparation for us.” Fylde’s boss Chris Neal was proud of his side’s performance: “To come to a League Two club and get a draw shows the quality we have. We matched them physically and tactically.”

The result means both teams remain unbeaten in pre‑season, with Morecambe now turning their attention to their next friendly as they build towards the League Two campaign.
