FC Zlín 1-2 1. SK Prostějov: Late Winner Settles Tight Friendly

1. SK Prostějov edged FC Zlín 2-1 in an international club friendly on Friday, 2 October 2026, with a late goal deciding a contest that had been evenly balanced for long spells.

FC Zlín enjoyed more of the ball, but Prostějov were dangerous on the break and found the decisive moment in the closing stages to claim a narrow away win.

Match Overview

Zlín started the brighter of the two teams, moving the ball patiently and looking to create overloads on the flanks. Prostějov were happy to sit slightly deeper, pressing selectively and looking to spring forward when Zlín lost possession in advanced areas.

The opening goal came against the run of play, but it reflected Prostějov's sharpness in transition. Zlín responded well after the break and equalised, only for Prostějov to find a late winner that settled a competitive friendly.

Key Moments

• 31st minute: Prostějov took the lead with a fast counterattack. A through ball split the Zlín defence, and the forward rounded the goalkeeper before finishing into an empty net.
• 54th minute: FC Zlín equalised after sustained pressure. A cross from the left was only half-cleared, and the midfielder struck a first-time shot through a crowded penalty area.
• 68th minute: Zlín nearly took the lead when a header from a corner clipped the top of the crossbar.
• 84th minute: Prostějov scored the winner when a substitute winger cut inside from the right and curled a precise effort into the far corner.

Tactical Story

FC Zlín's approach was based on possession and patient build-up, but they sometimes moved the ball too slowly, allowing Prostějov to reorganise. Zlín's full-backs pushed high to support attacks, which left space behind for Prostějov to target on the counter.

Prostějov defended with discipline and used their substitutions well. The introduction of fresh legs in wide areas gave them renewed attacking impetus, and the winning goal came from exactly that source. Zlín pushed for a second equaliser in the final minutes, but Prostějov held firm.

Standout Players

Prostějov's match-winner made an immediate impact after coming on, showing quick feet and confidence to take on the decisive shot. Their central midfielder also controlled the tempo well, breaking up play and starting counters.

FC Zlín's goalscorer was their most persistent threat, arriving late in the box and testing the goalkeeper. The Zlín goalkeeper made two important saves in the first half to keep the deficit manageable, even though he was beaten late on.

Friendly Takeaways

For 1. SK Prostějov, the win provides momentum and proof that their counterattacking structure can trouble stronger opponents. FC Zlín will take encouragement from their spells of control, but they will want to be more ruthless in front of goal. Both teams gained valuable minutes as they continue their preparations.
