Al Hilal Riyadh Women claimed a narrow but eye-catching 2-1 victory over Al Ittihad Women in an international club friendly played under floodlights on Wednesday night. The match provided a competitive test for both teams, with Al Hilal showing composure in the decisive moments to edge a contest that ebbed and flowed between two ambitious sides.

A Competitive Start

The friendly atmosphere did not prevent both teams from approaching the match with serious intent. Al Ittihad Women began brightly, moving the ball crisply through midfield and testing the Al Hilal backline with early forward runs. Al Hilal, though, soon settled into the game and began to dictate longer spells of possession.

The opening goal arrived midway through the first half after a patient build-up. Al Hilal worked the ball into wide areas and delivered a dangerous cross that was turned home from close range, giving the home side a lead their general play had deserved.

Al Ittihad Fight Back Before the Break

Al Ittihad responded well to falling behind and started to create more meaningful opportunities. Their equaliser came from a well-taken strike after a quick transition caught the Al Hilal defence slightly out of position. The goal restored parity and made the remainder of the first half an evenly balanced affair, with both goalkeepers being called into action to keep the score level.

The intensity remained high after halftime, as head coaches on both benches made several substitutions to test squad depth. The changes brought fresh energy to the contest, particularly in midfield where the physical battle intensified.

The Winning Moment

With the match seemingly heading towards a draw, Al Hilal produced a late piece of quality to secure the victory. A clever interchange around the edge of the area created space for a powerful shot that sailed into the back of the net. In front of their supporters, Al Hilal Riyadh Women then closed the game out sensibly to preserve their one-goal advantage.

Why This Friendly Matters

• Useful preparation: Both clubs will view this match as excellent preparation for their competitive campaigns, with plenty of minutes given to key players and newcomers.
• Growing standard: The quality of the contest offered another example of the rapid development and increasing competitiveness within women’s club football in the region.
• Momentum: Al Hilal will carry real belief from this win, while Al Ittihad will be encouraged by their overall performance despite the result.

The meeting ended as a valuable exercise for both camps, providing coaching staff with important observations and players with ninety minutes of sharp, competitive match action.
