Independiente FBC 1 – 2 12 de Junio VH
Paraguayan División Intermedia | May 30, 2026
12 de Junio VH pulled off a hard-fought away victory over Independiente FBC on Saturday night at Estadio Ricardo Gregor, winning 2–1 in a match that saw the visitors overturn an early deficit. The result keeps 12 de Junio in contention for promotion to the Paraguayan Primera División.
Independiente strike first
Independiente started brightly and took the lead in the 12th minute. A cross from the right found striker Luis Miño, who powered a header past 12 de Junio goalkeeper Carlos Servín. The home fans were buoyant, but their joy would be short-lived.
Visitors mount a quick response
12 de Junio equalized just eight minutes later. A defensive lapse from Independiente allowed midfielder Óscar Ruiz to intercept a clearance and fire low into the corner from the edge of the box. The goal shifted the momentum, and 12 de Junio began to dominate possession.
The turning point came in the 32nd minute when Independiente defender Richard Fernández was shown a second yellow card for a reckless challenge, reducing the home side to ten men. 12 de Junio pounced on the numerical advantage, and just before halftime, winger Derlis González curled a free kick over the wall and into the top corner to make it 2–1.
Second-half siege holds firm
Independiente pushed forward in the second half despite being a man down, creating several half-chances but failing to test Servín seriously. 12 de Junio defended resolutely, with centre-backs Jorge Núñez and Mario Salinas winning every aerial duel. The visitors nearly added a third on the counter but squandered a couple of clear openings.
Promotion race heats up
With this win, 12 de Junio VH moves into third place in the División Intermedia standings, just two points behind the automatic promotion spots. Independiente, meanwhile, drops to seventh and will need to recover quickly to stay in the playoff race. The two teams meet again in Asunción later in the season.
