Chanmari FC 2–0 Dempo | Indian League Division 1 | 9 May 2026

Chanmari FC continued their impressive form in the Indian League Division 1 with a commanding 2–0 victory over Dempo at the MFA Ground in Bambolim. A goal in each half ensured the home side took all three points and strengthened their position in the playoff race.

First-Half Control

Chanmari dominated proceedings from the outset. Their high press unsettled Dempo’s build-up play, and it was no surprise when they took the lead in the 23rd minute. Winger Lalrammawia cut in from the left and laid the ball off to midfielder B. Zosangzuala, who fired a low drive into the far corner.

Dempo struggled to create any clear chances in the first half. Their best opportunity came from a free kick that sailed just wide of the post. Chanmari’s defence, organised by veteran Gouramangi Singh, looked comfortable.

Sealing the Win

The second half followed a similar pattern. Chanmari remained in control, and they doubled their lead in the 68th minute. A quick break saw striker Alfred Jaryan sprint clear of the Dempo defence. He rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home to make it 2–0.

Dempo attempted to mount a comeback but were unable to test Chanmari’s goalkeeper seriously. The home side saw out the match with professionalism, keeping a clean sheet for the third consecutive home game.

Standings and Context

  • Chanmari FC move into 3rd place with 24 points, well placed for the promotion playoffs.
  • Dempo remain in 8th place, now nine points adrift of the top four with only six matches left.

Chanmari’s manager praised his team’s discipline and work rate after the match. For Dempo, the loss further damages their slim hopes of challenging for a promotion spot. They will need a dramatic turnaround in their remaining fixtures.
