Debreceni VSC produced a powerful away performance to beat Puskas Akademia FC 1-3 in the Hungary Fizz Liga on Sunday evening. Debrecen’s clinical finishing and sharp pressing proved decisive at the Puskas Akademia Pancho Arena, handing the visitors a significant result in the race for the top places.

Match Overview

Debrecen started on the front foot and took the lead in the 12th minute after pressing high and forcing a mistake in the host’s build-up. Puskas Akademia responded well and equalised in the 39th minute with a neat move through the middle, but Debrecen restored their advantage in the 56th minute with a well-timed run into the penalty area. The visitors sealed the win in the 84th minute, capitalising on space as Puskas Akademia pushed forward in search of an equaliser.

Key Moments

• 12’ — Debrecen take the lead: A high press forced a loose pass, and the opener was finished from close range.
• 39’ — Puskas Akademia equalise: A quick exchange at the edge of the box created space for a composed finish.
• 56’ — Debrecen regain control: A cross from the right was met by a late run and a firm header.
• 84’ — Debrecen seal it: A counter-attack ended with a low shot into the far corner to make it 3-1.

Tactical Story

Debrecen’s game plan was built on intensity without the ball. They pressed Puskas Akademia’s first line, forced longer passes, and attacked the spaces left behind the full-backs. Puskas Akademia had spells of possession and created problems when they played through the middle, but they were vulnerable to quick transitions. Debrecen’s ability to win the ball back in advanced areas was the difference, and their finishing in the final third was far more ruthless than the hosts’.

Standout Performers

Debrecen’s attacking midfielder was at the heart of most of their best moves, contributing to the first and third goals with intelligent movement. The centre-forward led the line well, while the goalkeeper made a key save at 1-1 to protect the visitors’ momentum. For Puskas Akademia, the central midfielder was their most composed player, but the home side lacked the same cutting edge in the box.

What It Means

The victory strengthens Debrecen’s position in the Hungary Fizz Liga standings and sends a clear message about their ambitions this season. Puskas Akademia’s home defeat is a setback, especially after they had fought their way back into the game at 1-1. Debrecen’s away form is becoming a major weapon, and this result will boost confidence ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.
