Rijeka started their Croatian Football League season in impressive fashion with a comfortable 2-0 home win over Slaven Belupo on August 4, 2025. A goal in each half at the Stadion Rujeka secured the three points for the hosts, who look to be strong contenders in the early title race. Rijeka dominated possession from the outset and broke the deadlock after 25 minutes with a close-range finish following a goalmouth scramble. They doubled their lead early in the second half through a superb individual effort from their left winger, who cut inside and curled a shot into the far corner.
