FK Velez Mostar 0–3 Dunajska Streda
UEFA Europa Conference League – First Qualifying Round – 31 July 2026

Dunajska Streda of Slovakia put one foot in the next round with an emphatic 3–0 away victory over FK Velez Mostar. The Bosnian side were outclassed at the Stadion Rođeni, as the visitors scored three times in a dominant second-half display to take full control of the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying tie.

Match Overview

The first half was a cautious affair, with both teams unwilling to take risks. Velez Mostar, backed by a vocal home crowd, started well and created a few half-chances, but Dunajska Streda’s defence held firm. The breakthrough came early in the second half when Slovak midfielder Milan Dimun curled a free-kick over the wall and into the net from 25 yards out.

The wind went out of Velez’s sails after that, and Dunajska Streda capitalised with two quick goals. Striker Zoltán Kalmár doubled the lead in the 61st minute with a header from a corner, and substitute Miroslav Káčer added a third 10 minutes later with a low drive from the edge of the area. Velez offered little response as the Slovak side cruised to a commanding win.

Key Moments

  • 48' – Dimun opens the scoring with a brilliant free-kick.
  • 61' – Kalmár heads in from a corner to make it 2–0.
  • 71' – Káčer seals the win with a clinical finish.
  • 79' – Velez’s Haris Hajdarević sees a shot cleared off the line.

Tactical Story

Velez Mostar began with a 4-3-3 and pressed high, but their energy levels dropped after the interval. Dunajska Streda, playing in a compact 4-4-2, adjusted their pressing triggers at half-time and overwhelmed the hosts in midfield. The Slovaks’ set-piece organisation was also excellent, producing two of the three goals.

Standout Players

Milan Dimun was the architect of the win with his opener and overall play. Zoltán Kalmár was a handful in the air, while full-back Dominik Kruzliak provided the width that stretched Velez’s defence. For the home side, goalkeeper Adin Dizdarević made several saves to prevent an even bigger defeat.

Season Impact and Return Leg Preview

With a 3–0 lead and three away goals, Dunajska Streda are all but assured of progression. The return leg at the DAC Aréna will be a formality unless Velez mounts the most unlikely of comebacks. For the Bosnian side, this match highlighted the gap in quality between the leagues, and they will need to regroup for domestic competitions. Dunajska Streda, meanwhile, can start planning for the second qualifying round, where stiffer tests await.
