Match Report: A Demolition in Turku
Inter Turku produced a stunning attacking display at the Veritas Stadion, crushing JS Hercules 8–0 in the Suomen Cup second round. The Veikkausliiga side were in a different class from the outset, racing to a 4–0 lead inside the first 35 minutes and never letting up.
How the Goals Flowed
The home side opened the scoring early through a powerful strike from Joonas Ketonen, who added a second minutes later with a precise header. By halftime, Inter had added two more – one from a set piece and another on the break – to lead 5–0.
In the second half, Inter maintained their intensity, adding three more goals. The highlight was a brilliant solo effort from substitute Mikko Laine, who dribbled past three defenders before slotting home. The 8–0 scoreline reflected Inter’s total dominance: they had 68% possession and 22 shots to Hercules’ three.
Cup Context
JS Hercules, a team from the third-tier Kakkonen, were simply outclassed. The result sends Inter Turku into the next round of the Suomen Cup, where they will face tougher opposition. For Hercules, the experience – while painful – provides valuable exposure against top-flight opposition.
Inter manager Jarkko Kinnunen praised his team’s professionalism: “We took the game seriously, executed our plan, and the scoreline shows our quality in front of goal.”
