HPS Women 3–2 KuPs Women
Kansallinen Liiga | 29 May 2026, 23:30 EEST
HPS Women edged a thrilling five‑goal encounter against KuPs Women, snatching a 3‑2 victory that delighted the home supporters. The contest was a tale of two halves, with HPS racing into a three‑goal lead before withstanding a furious KuPs comeback.
First‑Half Dominance
HPS came flying out of the blocks. Their high tempo and direct running caused constant problems for the KuPs defence. The first goal arrived in the 12th minute when a through ball split the centre‑backs and the HPS striker finished coolly. By the 35th minute, they had doubled the lead with a header from a corner, and just before the interval they added a third – a fierce volley from 18 yards that left the goalkeeper with no chance.
KuPs Fight Back
Whatever the KuPs coaching staff said at half‑time had an immediate effect. They emerged with renewed energy and pulled one back in the 52nd minute via a well‑worked set piece. The pressure mounted as HPS sat deeper, and in the 71st minute KuPs scored again to make it 3‑2, capitalising on a defensive mix‑up.
HPS Hold On
Despite sustained pressure in the final 20 minutes, HPS’s defence – led by a heroic goalkeeper – managed to preserve the narrow lead. KuPs had a golden opportunity to equalise in the 88th minute but fired straight at the keeper.
Aftermath
The win lifts HPS into the upper half of the Kansallinen Liiga table, while KuPs will rue their slow start as they remain in mid‑table. Both sides showed quality, but HPS’s early ruthlessness ultimately made the difference.
