The victory sent the Atlas Lionesses into the quarter-finals in their debut tournament, becoming the first Arab nation to achieve this feat at a Women's World Cup. The only goal came in first-half stoppage time when Anissa Lahmari pounced on a rebound after Colombia goalkeeper Catalina Pérez could only parry a shot from Ibtissam Jraïdi. Colombia, who had already secured top spot in the group, were reduced to ten women early in the second half when Daniela Arias was sent off for a second yellow card. Morocco defended their lead with tremendous resilience, with goalkeeper Khadija Er-Rmichi making key saves to preserve the clean sheet. The win was a landmark moment for women's football in Morocco and Africa, capping an incredible journey from losing 6-0 to Germany in their opener. Morocco's coach Reynald Pedros spoke of a "dream," while Colombia's Nelson Abadía congratulated the opponents on a deserved win.
