Match Info
Southampton and Millwall played out a goalless 0-0 draw in an English Football League Championship fixture on New Year's Day 2026 at St Mary's Stadium. The stalemate was a frustrating result for the Saints, who dominated possession and created numerous chances but were repeatedly denied by a combination of resilient Millwall defending and poor finishing. Che Adams had the best opportunity of the match, his close-range effort brilliantly saved by Millwall goalkeeper Matija Sarkic in the first half. Millwall offered a sporadic threat on the counter-attack, with Tom Bradshaw forcing a smart stop from Gavin Bazunu, but were largely content to absorb pressure and secure a point. The draw did little to help Southampton's push for an automatic promotion spot, as they dropped valuable points at home, while the point was a valuable one for Millwall in their ongoing battle to move clear of the relegation zone. Southampton manager Russell Martin expressed disappointment at his team's lack of a cutting edge, while Millwall's boss Joe Edwards praised his side's defensive organization and work ethic.
