Orsomarso’s women’s team and Deportivo Cali Women played out a hard-fought 0-0 draw in the Liga Betplay Femenina, as both sides cancelled each other out in a tense and disciplined encounter on Tuesday morning.

The goalless result in Palmira was a fair reflection of a match where defensive organisation won out over attacking creativity. Deportivo Cali controlled long spells of possession, but Orsomarso’s compact defensive shape ensured that the visitors were never able to find a clear route to goal.

A battle of midfield control and defensive solidity

Deportivo Cali came into the game as one of the more dangerous attacking sides in the women’s league, but Orsomarso prepared well and denied the visitors space in the decisive areas. The home team frequently dropped into a deep defensive line, forcing Cali to play in front of them rather than beyond them.

The best openings were few and far between. Deportivo Cali had a half-chance from a corner in the first half, but the header was straight at the Orsomarso goalkeeper. For the hosts, a quick break just before halftime saw a shot from the edge of the box drift narrowly over the crossbar.

Second-half resilience and late pressure

The tempo increased after the break, with Deportivo Cali stepping up their pressing and pushing Orsomarso back into their own half. Yet the home side’s defensive unit held firm, making critical blocks and clearances during a period of sustained pressure from the visitors.

Orsomarso also had moments going forward, particularly on the counter-attack, but a lack of composure in the final third meant the home team could not turn their chances into an opening goal. As the match wore on, both goalkeepers remained largely untested, with the game ending in a deserved stalemate.

What the result means for both teams

For Orsomarso, the point is a positive result against a traditional strong side like Deportivo Cali Women. It shows their ability to compete defensively with the league’s top clubs and keeps them within touch of the group-stage qualification spots.

For Deportivo Cali, the draw is a missed opportunity to gain valuable ground in the standings. While their unbeaten start to the season continues, they will be frustrated by their inability to break down an organised Orsomarso backline.

Key takeaways

• Orsomarso produced a disciplined defensive display to frustrate Deportivo Cali’s forwards.
• Deportivo Cali dominated possession but lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
• The point will be more warmly welcomed by Orsomarso as they continue to build momentum in the Liga Betplay Femenina.

With the season entering a decisive phase, both teams will know that games like this can shape their final positions. Orsomarso will look to build on their defensive resilience, while Deportivo Cali Women will aim to sharpen their attacking play in the coming rounds.
