Chindia Targoviste produced a statement performance in the Romanian Liga II on Sunday, September 13, 2026, dismantling Selimbar 4-0 at Stadionul Eugen Popescu. The victory lifts Chindia into a promising position early in the campaign, while Selimbar remain rooted in the lower half of the table.

The match kicked off at 16:00 local time, and Chindia wasted little time imposing their will. A crisp passing move in the 12th minute opened the scoring, setting the tone for a one-sided contest. Selimbar struggled to cope with the pace and intensity of the hosts, who added a second before the half-hour mark.

A Dominant First-Half Display

Chindia's midfield trio controlled the tempo, winning second balls and launching quick transitions. The second goal came from a well-worked corner, with defender Andrei Popa heading home from close range. Selimbar's goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score respectable, but the pressure was relentless.

Key Moments and Goalscorers

• 12' – Cristian Neguț opens the scoring with a low drive into the bottom corner.
• 28' – Andrei Popa doubles the lead with a powerful header from a corner.
• 54' – Mihai Dinu adds a third after a swift counter-attack.
• 78' – Substitute Alexandru Ioniță completes the rout with a composed finish.

Tactical Story: Chindia's Pressing Masterclass

Chindia employed a high pressing system that suffocated Selimbar's build-up play. The visitors attempted to play out from the back but repeatedly lost possession in dangerous areas. Chindia's wing-backs pushed high, creating overloads on the flanks and delivering crosses into the box. Selimbar's defensive line was often caught flat-footed, and their midfield failed to track runners.

Standout Players

Cristian Neguț was instrumental, scoring one and assisting another. Andrei Popa was a rock at the back and a threat from set-pieces. For Selimbar, goalkeeper Răzvan Ionita made several fine saves to prevent an even heavier defeat.

Liga II Table Impact

With this win, Chindia Targoviste move into the promotion playoff places, building momentum after a solid start to the season. Selimbar, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone and will need to address their defensive frailties quickly. The 4-0 result is Chindia's biggest home win of the campaign so far, sending a clear message to their rivals.
