Chasselay M.D. Azergues and Canet Roussillon played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the French Championnat National 2 on September 13, 2026, with both sides twice finding the net in a match that swung back and forth until the final whistle.

Match overview

Chasselay M.D. Azergues started brightly and took the lead inside the opening quarter-hour, but Canet Roussillon responded well and grew into the game as the first half wore on. The visitors’ equaliser arrived before the break, and when Chasselay restored their advantage early in the second half, it looked as though the home side might hold on. Canet had other ideas, however, and a well-worked equaliser in the 77th minute ensured the points were shared.

The result leaves both teams with mixed feelings. Chasselay will be pleased with the attacking fluency they showed at times but disappointed to concede twice, especially after retaking the lead. Canet Roussillon, meanwhile, will take confidence from their resilience and the quality of their second-half response.

Key moments

• 12th minute: Chasselay M.D. Azergues open the scoring through Lucas Bernard, who finishes neatly after a quick move down the left.
• 34th minute: Canet Roussillon equalise when Enzo Martinez converts a low cross from close range.
• 58th minute: Chasselay regain the lead as captain Thomas Roux heads home from a corner.
• 77th minute: Canet level again, Martinez turning provider for Julien Costa to slot past the goalkeeper.

Tactical story

Chasselay M.D. Azergues set up with a compact midfield and looked to attack quickly through the channels, while Canet Roussillon preferred to build patiently from the back and dominate possession. That contrast made for an open contest. Canet’s ability to keep the ball forced Chasselay deeper after half-time, and the equaliser came from exactly that pattern: sustained pressure, a smart overlap and a calm finish. Chasselay’s set-piece threat was their strongest weapon, but they could not quite manage the game in the closing stages.

Standout players

• Enzo Martinez (Canet Roussillon): Scored one goal and set up another, driving his team forward throughout.
• Thomas Roux (Chasselay M.D. Azergues): Led by example, scored a header and won several important aerial duels.
• Lucas Bernard (Chasselay M.D. Azergues): Opened the scoring and caused problems with his movement in behind.

Season impact

The draw adds another point to both clubs’ tallies in the French Championnat National 2 standings. Chasselay M.D. Azergues will feel they let two points slip after leading twice, while Canet Roussillon will view the comeback as evidence of their competitive character. In a league where away points are precious, Canet’s late equaliser could prove significant when the promotion and relegation picture becomes clearer later in the season.
