Cerro Largo 2 – 0 Cerro Montevideo
Uruguay Primera División | May 30, 2026
Cerro Largo continued their impressive home form with a convincing 2–0 victory over Cerro Montevideo at Estadio Arquitecto Antonio Eleuterio Ubilla in Melo. The win keeps the Arachán firmly in the hunt for a top-four finish in the Uruguayan Primera División Clausura.
First-half dominance sets the platform
From the first whistle, Cerro Largo imposed their physicality and speed on the match. The opening goal came in the 14th minute when striker Leandro Rodríguez latched onto a through ball from midfielder Nicolás Barrios and slotted calmly past goalkeeper Yonatan Irrazábal.
Cerro Largo doubled their advantage in the 38th minute from a set piece. A well-worked corner routine saw defender Facundo Rodríguez rise unmarked to nod home from close range, giving the home side a comfortable lead at halftime.
Second half: control and counter-threat
Cerro Montevideo came out with renewed energy in the second half, pushing forward in search of a lifeline. However, Cerro Largo’s midfield, anchored by Mauro Estol, absorbed the pressure and looked dangerous on the break. The visitors’ best chance fell to Facundo Peraza, whose header in the 64th minute was brilliantly saved by home goalkeeper Lucas Machado.
Cerro Largo nearly added a third in the 82nd minute when substitute Enzo Larrosa hit the post after a swift counterattack. Despite the missed opportunity, the 2–0 scoreline never looked in doubt.
What the result means
The victory lifts Cerro Largo to fourth in the Clausura standings, while Cerro Montevideo remains in mid-table, now six points adrift of the top four. The Arachán will look to build on this momentum when they travel to face Nacional next week.
