FC Panama Norte (W) suffered a heavy home defeat as SD Atletico Nacional (W) stormed to a 4-1 victory in this Brazil WD1 encounter. The visitors delivered a clinical attacking performance, recovering from an early setback to dominate the match and collect three crucial points.

Fast start for the hosts

FC Panama Norte surprised many by taking the lead inside the opening quarter of an hour. A well-worked corner routine caught the Atletico Nacional defense off guard, and the home side's center-back rose highest to head the ball into the net. That goal lifted the confidence of the home team, who briefly looked capable of controlling the match.

But the advantage lasted only minutes. SD Atletico Nacional responded with immediate intensity, pressing high up the pitch and forcing mistakes in Panama Norte's buildup. Their equalizer came from a swift counter-attack, with the visitors' right winger cutting inside and firing a low shot into the far corner from the edge of the area.

Atletico Nacional take control

From that moment, the match began to swing decisively in favor of the visitors. Their midfielders found space between the lines, and the wide forwards repeatedly isolated the home full-backs. Before halftime, Atletico Nacional added a second goal after a slippery dribble into the box drew the goalkeeper out, allowing the striker to roll the ball into an empty net.

The third goal early in the second half ended any realistic hopes of a Panama Norte comeback. A misplaced pass in midfield was intercepted, and a quick exchange of passes carved the home defense open. The finishing touch was applied with composure from close range, making it 3-1.

Late fourth seals dominant result

FC Panama Norte tried to push forward late on but always appeared vulnerable to the counter. Their frustration grew as the visitors continued to find space behind the defense. The final goal arrived in the 82nd minute when a long ball over the top caught the home side on the back foot. The Atletico Nacional forward rounded the goalkeeper, then slotted home to complete a comprehensive away victory.

Key players

What the result means in the WD1 standings

For SD Atletico Nacional (W), this result represents a statement of intent. Scoring four goals away from home and showing resilience after falling behind demonstrates the attacking quality they intend to lean on throughout the season. The three points will lift them up the WD1 standings and give the squad valuable momentum.

For FC Panama Norte (W), the defeat is a painful reminder of the levels required in this division. The early goal showed their potential, but defensive concentration and game management need improvement if they are to climb away from the lower reaches of the table. With several matches still to come, they will be eager to respond quickly.
