FC Dornbirn’s hopes of climbing the Austrian 3.Liga table suffered a setback as they lost 2–1 at home to SVG Reichenau on 5 June 2026. The visitors delivered a disciplined performance at the Dornbirnstadion, turning the game around after an early deficit.
Early Lead for Dornbirn
The hosts started brightly. In the 14th minute, midfielder Lukas Fend latched onto a loose ball inside the box and fired low into the net. Dornbirn looked confident, controlling possession and pressing high. But Reichenau gradually settled into the game, with their compact shape frustrating the home side.
Reichenau’s Response
The equaliser came just before the half‑hour mark. A swift counter‑attack caught Dornbirn’s defence out of position, and striker Matthias Gschwend slotted home after a neat through‑ball from David Schöpf. The score remained 1–1 at halftime, with Reichenau growing in confidence.
The second half was a tighter affair. Dornbirn pushed forward but lacked precision in the final third. The decisive moment arrived in the 74th minute: a free‑kick from the left wing was met by Sebastian Meierkord, whose glancing header found the far corner. Reichenau then defended resolutely to secure the win.
Looking Ahead
The defeat leaves Dornbirn in the lower half of the 3.Liga table, while Reichenau moved into mid‑table. Both teams will be eager to gather points in the coming rounds.
