Angouleme Sweep Past Chauray FC 2–0 in French National 2

Angouleme produced a composed and professional performance to beat Chauray FC 2–0 on September 5, 2026, in a French Championnat National 2 fixture. The home side controlled long spells of the match, scored at important moments, and secured a deserved clean sheet against a Chauray team that struggled to create clear chances.

First-Half Control

From the opening whistle, Angouleme took charge of possession and forced Chauray onto the back foot. The midfield triangle kept the ball moving quickly, while the full-backs pushed forward to supply width in the final third. Chauray sat deep and looked to frustrate the hosts, but Angouleme’s patience paid off when they opened the scoring with a well-organised move in the first half.

The goal came after a sharp combination on the edge of the box, with Angouleme’s forward making space and finishing calmly past the goalkeeper. That strike settled any nerves and allowed the home side to play with greater freedom. They nearly doubled their lead before the interval, but a save from the Chauray goalkeeper kept the score at 1–0 heading into halftime.

Defensive Discipline and a Decisive Second Goal

The second half started with Chauray attempting to push higher up the pitch in search of an equaliser. They enjoyed a little more possession, but Angouleme’s defensive unit remained well organised and rarely looked threatened. Whenever Chauray did reach the penalty area, they were met by strong tackles and important blocks.

Against the run of play in terms of territory, Angouleme sealed the result with a counter-attacking goal. The move began inside their own half and was finished with precision, giving the home side a clear two-goal cushion. From that point onward, Angouleme managed the remaining minutes comfortably, keeping the ball and denying Chauray any route back into the contest.

Clean Sheet and Standings Boost

Keeping a clean sheet will please the Angouleme coaching staff. The defensive performance was built on good communication and hard work from the entire team, not just the back line. For Chauray FC, the result extends a difficult run in Championnat National 2, and they will need to find more attacking spark in the coming matches.

In a competitive National 2 group, home wins like this are essential. Angouleme’s 2–0 victory gives them a solid platform to target a stronger position in the league standings. Chauray, meanwhile, must recover quickly and focus on the next fixture, where they will look to turn promising effort into a positive result.
