AD Tarma 2–0 Comerciantes Unidos
Peruvian Liga 1 – 18 May 2026
AD Tarma claimed a comfortable 2–0 home victory over Comerciantes Unidos at the Estadio Unión Tarma on Monday night, strengthening their position in the upper half of the Peruvian Liga 1 standings. The visitors, meanwhile, remain deep in relegation trouble after a toothless display.
Home control from the first whistle
Tarma dominated possession from the outset, with their midfield duo of José Carlos Fernández and Renzo Salazar pulling the strings. The breakthrough came in the 19th minute when winger Christian Flores cut in from the left and unleashed a fierce shot that took a slight deflection off a defender, wrong-footing the Comerciantes keeper.
Comerciantes rarely threatened Tarma’s goal. Their best chance of the first half came from a long-range effort that sailed well over the bar. Tarma, meanwhile, continued to create chances and should have doubled their lead before the interval.
Second goal seals the points
The second half followed a similar pattern. Tarma kept possession and pressed high, forcing Comerciantes into mistakes. The decisive goal arrived in the 67th minute. A quick free kick caught the visitors’ defence napping, and striker Hugo Ángeles collected the ball on the edge of the box before driving a low shot into the corner.
Comerciantes lacked ideas going forward and failed to register a single shot on target in the entire second half. Tarma’s defence, marshalled by veteran centre-back Christian Ramos, remained untroubled throughout.
Liga 1 context
The win moves AD Tarma up to sixth place in the aggregated table, keeping them in contention for a Copa Sudamericana berth. Comerciantes Unidos, by contrast, sit second from bottom in the relegation zone, now six points from safety with fewer than half the season remaining.
Tarma’s home form has been a major factor in their climb – they have won four of their last five at the Estadio Unión Tarma. Next week, they travel to Universitario in a tough test, while Comerciantes face Alianza Lima at home in what is already shaping up as a must-win match.
